Kristen's Doctoral Capstone project researched the importance of sensory interventions and supports around mealtimes, at school and at home, for children who were diagnosed with hearing loss and utilized hearing devices. Her practice philosophy centers around supporting children and their families through the use of fun activities, education, and collaboration to support independence in day-to-day activities.

Kristen is currently a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Illinois Occupational Therapy Association.

Outside of work, Kristen enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, trying different foods in the area and whenever she travels, and working out.

Kristen says, “As a clinician, I believe that it is beneficial to incorporate a holistic and client-centered approach based on each child and family's needs. I understand that each child is unique and their own individual. Tailoring occupations and activities that are fun, engaging, and important to each child and family is crucial to address goals that are most important to each individual. Education and collaboration with both the therapeutic team as well as parents and support networks result in the best outcomes for children. I understand that it is beneficial to communicate and work together with caregivers to establish goals that are important for their child, as well as provide education, strategies, and tools to support their child throughout daily occupations.”
